Please review the following information VERY carefully, as it contains all the information you will need for your dancer’s 2025 recital and all of the necessary preparations. We hope this will assist in your planning and will answer any questions you may have.

Our goal is to make the recital an organized, exciting experience for everyone involved. Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to email the studio. We thank you for the gift of your wonderful and talented children and look forward to working with you on this year’s recital!

Picture Day
PARTICIPATION IS MANDATORY
Date: Monday, May 5th  through  Thursday, May 8th
Time: during your child’s regular class time
*please note the day/time for the Tuesday 6:00 Preschool class time is different
Location: Studio 55 Dance studio

Class photos will be taken Monday May 5th  through Thursday May 8th.

*The Tuesday 6:00 Preschool class will have their pictures taken on Monday, May 5th at 5:30-6:15.

It is MANDATORY for all dancers to attend this event, as the pictures will be used in the recital program. You are not required to purchase any pictures; however, they are a great memento of your child’s dance season.

Dancers should come in costume with hair and makeup already completed. The studio’s storage room will be used to take photos and Studio 2 will be used as a dressing area. All dancers must have at least 1 FEMALE present to assist their dancer with costume changes. Absolutely NO men allowed in the dressing area. To ensure no distractions, parents will not be allowed in Studio 2 at any time.

All pictures will be in DIGITAL form. Parents will receive all group pictures taken of your child and will be located in the shared OneDrive folder. If you would like individual pictures of your dancer, please let Katie know on picture day. You will have full rights to these photos; you may post online, order prints, make calendars, etc.

Please double check that you have all of your costume pieces (labeled with your child’s name on everything).  A detailed list of your costume pieces is included with this packet.

Please, no underwear under any costumes. Tights are a dancer’s form of underwear. All students needing a bra will need a nude bra with convertible straps in either nude or clear. This helps achieve a more attractive photograph and presence on stage.

Please begin planning now as to how many tickets you will require.

Parent Volunteers
Parents are asked to assist our dancers in the dressing area during our performances. Some of the duties of our backstage helpers will be signing in and signing out all dancers in your area, assisting dancers with costume changes, escorting dancers to the bathroom, and most importantly KEEP OUR DANCERS SAFE.

Each dancer will need to have 1 FEMALE helper to assist at ONE of their performances. Moms are the ideal helpers, however an older sister, grandma, etc. is also acceptable. A sign-up sheet is available in the studio.

Additional opportunities for volunteering during the recital weekend will be available. If you would like to help out in any way, please notify Katie.

Please know that I greatly appreciate your help! Thank you!

Rehearsal
PARTICIPATION IS MANDATORY
Date:  Saturday, June 7, 2025
Time:  9:00AM
Location:  Rockford High School Auditorium

                    7600 County Road 50 Rockford, MN 55373

The purpose of the rehearsal is to familiarize our dancers with the auditorium surroundings, being on stage, spacing, and to feel comfortable performing their dances. Lighting, music cues, entrances and exits are rehearsed for an organized and professional performance. The rehearsal gives the dancers an opportunity to get over some of the jitters that come with performing on stage and it is also a time for the staff to address any last minute concerns. Remember, a dance is a “team” effort. If one dancer is missing, it changes spacing or partner elements of the dance. Please make every effort to attend.

Please be at the rehearsal 15-20 minutes early and ready to go. Each class will have a designated space in the dressing area. Bring all the costumes, accessories, and shoes that will be needed for recital day. Make sure that ALL of your dancer’s items are properly labeled. You will be allowed to leave these items at the school. You do not need to wear costumes, makeup, or appropriate hairstyles unless you would like the practice it before the show.

All dancers will need a parent present for the entire rehearsal. Absolutely NO MEN will be allowed in the dressing area at any time.

Please make sure your child is fed before they arrive, or you may bring food and water in a cooler that is labeled with your child’s name. However, NO FOOD OR DRINK is allowed in the auditorium.

Rehearsal is expected to run 2 hours. Please be patient in case of technical difficulties.

Rehearsal Schedule
The following list will be the order of performance that we follow at rehearsal. Me and My Special Person dances and the Finale will practice on stage 3 times. All other routines will run through their routine 1 time unless dancers or instructors ask for an additional run though.

Recital
PARTICIPATION IS MANDATORY
Date: Saturday, June 7, 2025  at  4:00PM

Date: Sunday, June 8, 2025  at  2:00PM
Location: Rockford High School Auditorium
                  7600 County Road 50 Rockford, MN 55373

Please arrive NO LATER than 30 minutes prior to show time. Dancers should arrive in their first costume with hair and makeup completed. Please check in your dancer with the dressing room volunteer.

Seating for the recital will begin 15 minutes prior to show time. The doors will shut at show time and will reopen only between dances.

Performers are not allowed in the auditorium during the recital for any reason. All dancers must remain in the dressing area during the entire recital, including intermission.

The dressing room will be clearly labeled, and each class will have a marked area within the dressing room. Please send something along to occupy their time while they are waiting between dances. Please do not send markers, pens, play dough or any other items that may stain their costumes. You are welcome to send snacks and water with. Dancers must always respect the volunteers and their peers. Proper behavior will be expected. Please remind your dancers of the importance of this!

Family members and friends do not belong backstage or in the dressing rooms during the recital. The same applies during intermission and after the show. There is a lot of backstage activity in a limited amount of space and dressing rooms are a private area. Please remind your family and guests to be respectful of the dancers and these areas.

For the safety of our dancers, we ask that you please refrain from taking any pictures or videos during the recital. If you are observed taking pictures or videotaping during the recital you will be asked to leave camera/phone at the door. We will have a professional videographer who will be videoing during our show this year.

We ask that there is very limited movement during the show by audience members. Movement is very disruptive to both the dancers and the other audience members.  If you need to leave the auditorium, please do so between dances. Upon reentering the auditorium, you will be asked to wait at the door until the current dance is completed.

There is no food or drink allowed in the auditorium.

Dancers may be picked up in their dressing area after the show. Please “check out” your dancer with the parent volunteer before leaving.

Hair/Make Up/Costume
Uniform hairstyles are required. Dancers with short hair must pull their hair away from the face and slick it down. Dancers will wear the same hairstyle for all of their dances. If you have any questions or would like some tips on hairstyles, I would love to help!

Dancers must wear a minimum of blush, red or dark pink toned lipstick, neutral colored eye shadow, and mascara. Make up will be needed for pictures and recital. Minimal application for picture day is acceptable but full stage makeup should be applied for recital. Without any make up, students facial features become washed out on stage. We want to be able to see their smiling faces from anywhere in the auditorium!

Please remove all nail polish, temporary tattoos, jewelry, etc. prior to pictures and recital.

All shoes should be cleaned prior to picture day and again for recital.

To ensure that there are no costume problems, dancers should not wear costumes, accessories or tights other than picture day, rehearsal and recital. We recommend that each dancers name be placed inside all costumes, shoes, accessories and tights. Pack accessories in a bag or tote with your child’s name on the outside. Steam all costumes prior to picture day if necessary. Please do not wash costumes in your washing machine!

The recital is not a one day activity. Gather all costumes, accessories, shoes, and make up several days in advance so you’ll know if something is missing.
